Mental health support
Our dedicated team of mental health professionals provide a range of services through the North Queensland Primary Healthcare Network (NQPHN) funded MyndKind program.
Myndkind was designed with and for the community and provides integrated services to vulnerable and financially disadvantaged people across North Queensland, including the Greater Cairns Region.
Services include:
- Information and advice
- Support in navigating and accessing the broader service system
- Counselling
- Care coordination
To access NWRH’s MyndKind services in the Cairns region the easiest way is to call Medicare Mental Health (formerly Head to Health) on 1800595212 where you will be connected to a service or support that’s right for you.
If MyndKind is not the right service for you, Medicare Mental Health will help you find the one that is.
Alternatively we encourage you to talk to your GP for a referral.

Mental health is important because it affects how we think, feel and behave. It also impacts our ability to cope with stress, relate to others and make choices. Even though we talk about emotional and psychological worries as “mental health”, these worries and problems are also linked with the brain and the body. Mental health is part of our bodies overall health and wellbeing and is part of a holistic approach to health care.
